Medicare and Creditable Coverage

If you (and/or your dependents) will become eligible for Medicare in the next 12 months, you’ll want to know that the prescription drug coverage you have through the Minnesota Advantage Health Plan is Creditable Coverage.

Here's why it matters to you:

The law requires people enrolling in Medicare Part D (prescription drug coverage) to be able to prove continuous creditable drug coverage since they became eligible for Medicare. If you are enrolled in the Minnesota Advantage Health Plan, you have creditable coverage. That means your plan expects to pay as much as, or more than, what the standard Medicare prescription drug coverage will pay. If you enroll in Medicare prescription drug coverage after your initial eligibility period, you may need to provide proof of continuous coverage to avoid paying a lifetime penalty in addition to the Part D premium.

Here's that proof.
