The Minnesota Department of Human Rights and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission are hosting a training on new federal and state laws.
Participants will learn about these new federal and state laws:
- The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act: Federal law that requires covered employers to provide reasonable accommodations to a worker’s known limitations related to pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions, unless the accommodation will cause the employer an undue hardship.
- Preventing Pay Discrimination Act: State law that prohibits employers from inquiring into, considering, or requiring an applicant’s pay history for the purpose of determining wages, salary, earnings, benefits, or other compensation.
- Take Pride Act: State law that clarifies language in the Minnesota Human Rights Act to better reflect Minnesota’s diverse and thriving LGBTQIA+ communities.
- CROWN Act: State law that clarifies race under the Minnesota Human Rights Act to include traits associated with race, including but not limited to hair texture and hair styles such as braids, locs, and twists.
