Nursing Homes Statutes and Rules

The Board of Executives for Long-term Services and Supports provides public safety oversight for three licensure types:  Licensed Assisted Living Director (LALD), Licensed Health Services Executive (LHSE) and Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA).

The Licensed Nursing Home Administrator credential is required for an individual to serve as the Administrator of Record for facilities licensed by the Minnesota Department of Health as a Nursing Home.  Each facility must have a posted wall certificate of the Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA) or a Health Services Executive (LHSE).  Minnesota also allows a Nursing Home to request a Temporary Acting Permit.  Temporary Acting Permits may be found under the Nursing Home License section on this website.
