The Board of Executives for Long-term Services and Supports provides public safety oversight for three licensure types: Licensed Assisted Living Director (LALD), Licensed Health Services Executive (LHSE) and Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA).
The Licensed Assisted Living Director is a new licensure that was adopted August 1, 2021. This credential is required for an individual to serve as the Director of Record for facilities licensed by Minnesota Department of Health as Assisted Living. This credential is exclusive to Assisted Living in Minnesota, and each facility must have a posted wall certificate of the Licensed Assisted Living Director (LALD). Minnesota also allows those Assisted Living facilities without a Licensed Assisted Living Director (LALD) to allow an individual to request a Residency Permit for up to 12 months to complete licensure requirements to become an Assisted Living Director.
