The Mentor should ensure the ALDIR complies with the domains of practice, the NAB training manual and insure the ALDIR has experience with professional practice analysis. The mentor will help determine the duration of the field experience based on the topics identified in the self-assessment completed by the ALDIR. At the end of the field experience, the Mentor must provide evidence to the board completion of the required practicum hours, and remediation of any areas identified in the ALDIR self-assessment to be deficient by submitting the mentor evaluation form.
To be considered a mentor, the mentor 1) must be a licensed assisted living director or a licensed health services executive. 2) must be licensed and practicing for at least two years. 3)not supervise an ALDIR who is a related individual or who resides in the immediate household of the mentor.
Mentors should refer to the field experience practicum section on the website for the tools and resources to be used throughout the field experience.
