As the state entity tasked by the Governor to advise on issues affecting older adults and to create public awareness of their needs, the Minnesota Board on Aging (MBA) proposes that Minnesota’s Crisis Standards of Care Framework prohibit discrimination and subjective bias against older persons. The MBA calls on MDH and state health care systems to remember their obligations to all Minnesotans. In crises, providers must provide non-discriminatory, uniform and consistent medical care to all persons. Subjective criteria should not be a factor in determining access to appropriate and sufficient medical treatment and resources. One of the MBA’s roles is to advocate for older Minnesotans. Therefore, the Board also asks to be brought to the table whenever topics concerning older persons arise.
