About Us
Minnesota Board on Aging is a 25-member, governor-appointed board. Board members can serve up to two consecutive, four-year terms. The board has three officers: Chair, vice chair and secretary. The chair is appointed by the governor.
The board advises on and coordinates government plans around aging to ensure that Older Americans Act (OAA) requirements are met. MBA administers state and federal funds and also creates public awareness, encourages research on aging issues and provides technical assistance and grants to local aging organizations. By participating in board and committee meetings, MBA members work to create a collective vision that represents the best interests of older Minnesotans.
As part of the OAA, every four years, each state submits a State Plan on Aging to the federal Administration for Community Living (ACL). The plan documents goals and planned activities for the state's long-term supports and services. It provides a framework for programs, activities and services for older adults and provides assurances to ACL that we will meet OAA requirements. Minnesota's current State Plan on Aging covers Oct. 1, 2023, through Sept. 30, 2027.
