Dave Beal was appointed to the board in 2024. He serves on the Program Operations Committee. With over 50 years’ experience in communication, Dave has been a university professor, internet entrepreneur, marketing communication professional, advocate, and community organizer.
While he led communications at the local United Way it was regarded among the top brand and advocacy performers in the United Way system. As an adjunct faculty member at the University of Minnesota Rochester he helped develop its Community Collaboratory Program and served for a while as its interim director. He is currently the marketing and communication manager at Family Service Rochester, which provides mental health, child welfare and aging services throughout southeast Minnesota.
Dave helped produce a community co-design toolkit and has conducted several senior and family focused co-design research projects. He served for more than a decade on the board of Serve Minnesota/ MN Commission on National and Community Service. He shepherded Olmsted County’s 2020 membership in the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities and is the Age Friendly Olmsted County Coordinator.
In 2022, Dave was among the AARP Minnesota/Pollen 50 Over 50 for his community work. In 2023, he received the Mayor’s Medal of Honor for Senior/Elder Achievement.
