ST. PAUL, MN – Minnesota Human Rights Commissioner Rebecca Lucero today announced the appointment of Irina Vaynerman as Deputy Commissioner.
Deputy Commissioner Vaynerman brings a wealth of experience and leadership in civil rights law, racial justice, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) Rights, and immigrant rights. She has litigated statutory and constitutional anti-discrimination claims at a law firm in Detroit Michigan. As Deputy Commissioner, she will oversee the operations of the Department.
“We are excited about the leadership and expertise Deputy Commissioner Vaynerman brings to the Minnesota Department of Human Rights,” said MDHR Commissioner Rebecca Lucero. “Her unique experience will benefit Minnesota and MDHR in carrying out Governor Tim Walz’s vision of justice, equity, and One Minnesota.”
Most recently, Vaynerman was an attorney at Faegre Baker Daniels, LLP in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is a graduate of Harvard University and Yale Law School. After graduating from law school, Vaynerman served as a federal law clerk for the U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
