MDHR to host Key Findings meeting on Minnesota’s Ethnic Councils, Jan. 20

1/13/2015 10:14:43 AM

ST. PAUL, MN - The Minnesota Department of Human Rights will host a Community Conversation on the key findings regarding Minnesota's ethnic councils on how to best maximize the positive impacts of Minnesota's ethnic councils.

Minnesota's four ethnic councils were evaluated by the Minnesota Office of the Legislative Auditor in a March 2014 report. Following the report, the Minnesota Legislature tasked MDHR to conduct community outreach regarding the role of Minnesota's ethnic councils. MDHR hosted six Community Conversations throughout Minnesota in November and conducted interviews with stakeholders from a variety of foundations, non-profits, community members, legislators and government officials regarding the Minnesota ethnic councils. MDHR is interested in hosting a community conversation in the East Metro Area.

Who - Community members, students, advocates, businesses, and anyone interested in Minnesota's ethnic councils or in political engagement among racial and ethnic communities.

What - The forum will offer the opportunity for the community to review and discuss initial key findings, community needs, the scope of Minnesota's ethnic councils and discuss your thoughts on the ideal role, organizational structure and the priorities for the ethnic councils.

When - Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015
6:30 p.m.

Where - Dayton's Bluff Community Council
804 Margaret Street,
