10/10/2012 10:14:43 AM

The Minnesota Department of Human Rights (MDHR) today announced the hiring of an experienced bilingual attorney, Maria Minvielle, who will serve as an enforcement officer in the department's investigations unit.

Maria is bilingual in Spanish and her duties will include cases requiring translation. Commissioner of Human Rights Kevin Lindsey said, At a time when charges of discrimination filed with our department have increased significantly, we are pleased to find a candidate with Minvielle's exceptional qualifications. The department recently reported that the number of charges filed in the first six months of 2012 increased 50 percent over the number of charges filed in the previous six months.

Minvielle comes to her new position at MDHR with more than 16 years of experience working in law firms and corporations. She is experienced in bilingual marketing, advertising, intellectual property, immigration law, corporate law, and online legal research.

Previously she worked as a bilingual marketing analyst, copywriter and editor for Thomson Reuters in Eagan, MN and also for Fingerhurt.

Minvielle has a law degree from the Universidad Anaacute;huac del Norte, Meacute;xico City, Meacute;xico and a Masters in Law degree from Hamline University.
