What: A presentation on employment, immigration and discrimination by Alfred Baltazar Baca, Senior Trial Attorney for the Office of Special Counsel, Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice.

More information: Mr. Baca will discuss the anti-discrimination provisions of the federal Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. section 1324b.), and explore both national origin discrimination and citizenship status discrimination.
Department of Human Rights Commissioner Kevin Lindsey will introduce Mr. Baca, and discuss how the Minnesota Human Rights Act protects against national origin discrimination, and differences in state and federal law.
The U.S. Department of Justice Office of Special Counsel enforces the anti-discrimination provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act. Mr. Baca will discuss how this federal law prohibits:
The laws enforced by Baca's office, the Office Of Special Counsel (OSC), protect all U.S. Citizens, Recent Lawful Permanent Residents, Asylees, and Refugees.
The event is open to the public, there is no fee to attend, and registration is not required.
The event is sponsored by the Chicano Latino Affairs Council, the Minnesota Department of Human Rights and the Minneapolis office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
