come-learn-swirl

Workshop description

Do you work with Hard of Hearing students? Are you an itinerant teacher? Here we present a multilingual multimodal strategy you can use with both Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in any educational setting, including itinerant settings! In this workshop participants will learn the SWRL strategy (signing, writing, reading, and listening) and how to integrate it into their instruction in any educational setting. Attendees will have the opportunity to practice using the strategy to increase communication access and strengthen language and literacy development. They will leave with knowledge of how to integrate SWRL in their classrooms to support the diverse language and learning needs of DHH students. This workshop is for both emerging and experienced ASL users.
