The Covid-19 vaccine response is changing quickly. Please make sure you have the most current information to plan for and administer the Covid-19 vaccine. Every year nurses are hired to provide vaccines at community sites.

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) provides guidance regarding the storing, handling, and transporting of vaccines, documentation of immunizations, and administration for children and adults. The MDH has a Provider Hotline for questions at (651)-201-5414. 

The Minnesota Board of Pharmacy also has requirements about the distribution of vaccines including the delivery of vaccines to nurse's homes. Minnesota Statutes do not allow registered or licensed practical nurses to receive vaccine shipments at their residence. Proper storage and handling of vaccines is essential to ensure their viability for patients. Additionally, any company shipping vaccines into Minnesota must be licensed by the Board of Pharmacy. The Board encourages nurses to call:

• The Board of Pharmacy at 651-201-2825 regarding the distribution of vaccines; and 
• The Board of Nursing at 612-317-3000 with nursing practice concerns.
