Registration Cards No Longer Issued

Beginning June 1, 2012 the Minnesota Board of Nursing no longer issues paper registration cards at the time of license renewal. Anyone can verify a nurse's license by going to the Board's website; click on the Verify a License button, log in and then click the Verification Services link and follow the instructions to search by license number or name. For more information please read the Registration Cards No Longer Issued FAQ.

Renew online

*The MBN Online Services application is not compatible with Internet Explorer version 10 (which is installed by default in Windows 8 and is now also an option for earlier versions of Windows as well). Typically, users see a blank screen when attempting to access the Log In page. You may be able to access the page by switching to Compatibility View in IE 10 - click the little symbol in the address bar which looks like a page torn in half (see image below):

If you can't access the MBN page using IE, try another browser such as Firefox or Chrome. (Also please note that MBN Online Services has not been fully tested for compatibility with browsers on tablets and smartphones.)

Renew by paper form

  • We no longer mail paper renewal applications unless you request a paper application by checking the box on the back of the reminder postcard and return it to our office. You may also call the Board at 612-317-3000 to request a paper renewal application.
