Endorsement of NLN Fair Testing Imperative in Nursing Education Guidelines

The Minnesota Board of Nursing has formally endorsed the National League for Nursing (NLN) "The Fair Testing Imperative in Nursing Education Guidelines" published by the NLN in February 2012 and updated in 2020 with a much stronger focus on fairness in testing.

The guidelines developed by the NLN emerged after extensive review of the issues surrounding high stakes testing; that is, the use of exit exams or "NCLEX predictor" exams to prevent program completion, graduation, or in some other way deny eligibility to take the licensure exam.

In addition to the guidelines, the document offers specific recommendations for faculty, deans, directors, and chairs to achieve a fair testing environment.
