The Minnesota Council on Latino Affairs (MCLA) is surveying Minnesota’s Latine communities. The survey will collect Latine experiences and opinions. Responses will be used to help shape policies, programs, and advocacy, with the end goal of improving statewide opportunities and increasing access to prosperity.

The page is to help make the survey easier to understand and share. By making the survey easier to share, we can encourage as many respondents as possible. More responses lead to a more authentic understanding of community needs and how to address them.

The subsequent materials include key details for messaging the survey. There are also ready-made materials to help share it – through social media and email listservs, as well as physically. Please distribute the survey extensively with your networks and encourage participation. When available, MCLA can table partner events to distribute the survey. Collaborating organizations are welcome to have their logo included on our survey, highlighted in the summary report, and included in our newsletter and website.

Questions regarding the Community Needs Survey, this webpage, partnership opportunities, or related materials can be directed to Aaron Sepulveda at aaron.sepulveda@state.mn.us.

Con gratitud.

ABOUT THE SURVEY

Purpose

As the agency representing the interests of Latines in state government, MCLA engages communities to ensure authentic representation. This survey is another way to do that. The goal is to use this information to advocate for policies, programs, and funding. Recommendations will be shared with the Governor, legislature, and relevant state agencies, with the goal of prosperity for all Latines.

Who Should Take It:

This survey is for any and all Latines currently living in Minnesota. We seek participants regardless of citizenship status, primary language, and age, national and ethnic origin, or other demographics.

How Responses Will Be Used:

MCLA will use aggregate survey data to identify community needs, advocate for policies that support those needs, and pursue Latine prosperity in Minnesota. Results from analyzing aggregate data will be summarized into a report that will be available publicly in late November 2025. Individual data will not be used or shared in any format.

Privacy and Security:

The survey is anonymous and confidential. The survey does not collect identifying data like names, contact information, or place of residence. Moreover, MCLA is working with the Management Analysis and Development (MAD) – a State of Minnesota agency – to process respondent data. Per Minnesota Statute 13.64, MAD is legally required to maintain strict data privacy protocols, and unable to share data with external agencies and organizations, including those helping MCLA distribute the survey.
