Elvis Rivera

Treasurer, Congressional District 3

Elvis Rivera is a first-generation immigrant, from Guatemala, who self-identifies as an individual who is corporate by day, community activist by night and servant leader always. His personal mission is driven and strengthened by his passion to help create a just and equitable society for all. As a finance professional, "by day", he is specially focused on reducing the racial wealth gaps created through systemic imposed practices which keep underserved and underrepresented communities oppressed. As part of his activism, he sits on several non-profit boards for organizations that work towards empowering and developing leadership within Latinx and immigrant communities with the goal of creating greater social impact. Through his involvement in advocacy work and community organizing he also works towards elevating the voices of the underserved, underrepresented and disenfranchised communities in Minnesota. Elvis strongly believes that the best way to create change is by adding action to ideas, building relationships within our communities and influencing solidarity amongst all members.

Elvis has been a Minnesota resident since his arrival to the state in 1997. He was a long time North Minneapolis resident and during that time graduated from North Community High School and received a degree from Dunwoody College. As a lifelong learner he has continued his higher education journey and received certificates in various fields from institutions such as Denver University, Century College and The American College of Financial Services. Elvis has also been recognized by various institutions for his demonstrated leadership and aiding to create change for the betterment of all communities. He has been nominated and selected to be part of New Leaders Council, MINN fellowship, NEXUS BCLI, LatinoLEAD's ALP program, Leadership Saint Paul via the Saint Paul chamber and most recently he was named as one of 2023's Young Hispanic Corporate Achievers by The Hispanic Association for Corporate Responsibility.

Elvis also volunteers his time working with organizations such as Cristo Rey, BestPrep, MEDA, Upwardly Global and Urban Ventures and is part of the District 2 Ethics Committee with the Ramsey County Bar Association. In his spare time, Elvis can be found spending time with his two teenage children or outdoors on a bike ride or training for his next marathon.
