This bill would ensure the passage of policy amendments not included in the last session and that seek to diversify the workforce with qualified teachers that resemble the school population, including a pedagogy that reflects the racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds of all students.


Outcome: This bill was heard in the House Education Policy Committee. Unfortunately, the session ended and this initiative did not pass.

Veterans/Social Security Payment

This bill would ensure that veterans have access to all applicable tax benefits in the state. One of these benefits would be the exemption from taxes on social security payments for veterans.


Outcome: This bill was successfully heard in the Senate Taxes Committee. Although not supported by the House Taxes Committee, at the end of the session, the Taxes Conference Committee adopted a measure to not tax Social Security income for Minnesota seniors. This bill would have benefited about 9,500 Latino seniors (65+ years and older) in the state. Unfortunately, the session ended and this initiative did not pass.

Single-Language Motor Vehicle Transaction
