During the 2025 legislative session, the Minnesota Legislature passed historic legislation in the Veterans and Military Affairs Omnibus bill that established the definition of a Veteran of the Secret War in Laos and made these veterans eligible for specific state veterans benefits. Recommendations of protocols for establishing eligibility will be made by a forthcoming Veterans of Special Guerilla Units and Irregular Forces in Laos Advisory Task Force and compiled into a report delivered to the Minnesota Legislature.
