Shwetha Vijayakumar

Term: June 2024 to January 2028
Shwetha Vijayakumar is senior marketing manager at Ecolab as well as the lead for the Asian Community at Ecolab (ACE) Employee Resource Group. Originally from Kerala, India, she has lived and traveled around the world, including locations in Egypt, Texas, Oklahoma, and Minnesota.
 
She brings a desire to lower barriers to success for Asian communities to her role on the Council’s Board. She has served in her role since June 2024. 

About the Asian Indian Minnesotan community:
The Asian Indian Minnesotan community is estimated at 50,109 strong, representing the 2nd largest Asian Pacific community in Minnesota. The first Asian Indians came to Minnesota in the early 1900s as a limited number of students accepted it Minnesota universities. The first major migration took place beginning in the 1960s, when highly educated Asian Indians began arriving in United States, seeking better employment and educational opportunities. Of those who speak a native language other than English at home, 14% are considered limited English proficient.
