2022 API Day at the Capitol

The Council's 2022 API Day at the Capitol was the first API Day to be held in-person since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. This energetic event brought together community members, community leaders, and elected and appointed officials for a rally in the Capitol rotunda followed by a meet-and-greet with Minnesota legislators. The event, themed Democracy in the time of COVID: Strengthening our ties to each other, featured leaders from across Minnesota’s Asian and Pacific Islander communities who addressed the challenges and successes of the previous two years, as well as leading figures in state government.

For two days prior to API Day, interested community members also attended visits with members of Minnesota's legislature to discuss issues of importance to them. These visits were arranged by and supported by Council staff in order to facilitate active participation in and education about the state policymaking process.
