About the Nepalese Minnesotan community:
The Nepalese Minnesotan community is estimated at 4,929 and is one of the fastest growing Asian populations in the United States. Nepali families first began arriving in Minnesota in the late 1980s through the U.S. Diversity Immigration Visa Program. Other Nepalis also started to arrive around that time to further their education. Today, Minnesota has an established Nepali population that continues to grow. Nepali Minnesotans own businesses, lead non-profits, attend higher education institutions in pursuit of professional degrees, contribute to Minnesota’s economy, and share their experiences to help other immigrants adjust to life in Minnesota.
