The Council is honored to feature a community Board comprised of 10 individuals whose professional and personal experiences help guide our work and inform the ways we enact our statutory duties. Accordingly, these individuals work tirelessly to move the needle on improving the lives and lived experience of Asian Pacific Minnesotans as well as Asians and Pacific Islanders across the country.
Most recently, Council Board member Ngawang Dolker, an immigration attorney and former president of the Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota, was recognized for her pro-bono work with Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid. In honor of Pro Bono week, October 22-28, 2023, her feature in the Toward Justice digital magazine contained the following accolades:
“At Legal Aid, we bear witness to the undeniable, immeasurable impact volunteers make in the lives of those without means. Their pursuit of justice on behalf of people facing barriers of marginalization allows clients to move forward unencumbered by systemic restraints. The ripple effects are endless and so is our gratitude to these champions of justice. To Ngawang, each of our pro bono partners, and all doing work with gratitude as its own reward, we thank you!”
