2022 Asian and Pacific Islander Day at the Capitol

4/5/2022 1:48:08 PM

On Thursday, April 21, 2022, the Council on Asian Pacific Minnesotans (the Council) will hold its 2022 Asian and Pacific Islander Day at the Capitol (2022 API Day) under the theme of Democracy in the Time of COVID: Strengthening Our Ties to Each Other. This is the first API Day to be held in person since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in Minnesota in March 2020.

The 2022 API Day will begin with a rally in the Capitol Building Rotunda at 10:30 A.M., followed by a meet & greet between community members and leaders in state government in the Capitol Building Vault at 12:00 P.M. The rally will feature leaders from across Minnesota’s Asian and Pacific Islander communities who will speak to the challenges and successes of the last two years, as well as leading figures in state government.

The opportunity for legislative visits for both individual community members and groups will be offered on Wednesday, April 20, and Friday, April 22. These meetings will be fully arranged and supported by Council staff. Registration is required for legislative visits.

API Day is an annual Council event designed to bring together Minnesotans of Asian and Pacific Islander descent to rally together, increase their knowledge of the policymaking process, and directly connect with legislators about the issues that matter most to them. All are welcome and strongly encouraged to join us for 2022 API Day. No previous political or legislative knowledge or experience is required.

Event Date and Time: Thursday, April 21, 2022 – 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.
Event Location: Rotunda, Minnesota State Capitol Building
Registration: 2022apiday.eventbrite.com
