Every two years, our Council deploys the Legislative Priorities Survey to Asian and Pacific Islanders living across the state of Minnesota. This survey is one of the tools the Council utilizes to better serve our Asian Pacific Minnesotan communities over the coming years. The survey is designed to capture both recurring and new community concerns that can be addressed through our legislative work.
In order for the survey to be a powerful statement, reflective of the concerns of our Asian Pacific Minnesotan community, we encourage participation from across the metro, greater Minnesota, and our diverse ethnic groups. The survey will be open from July 20 to October 2, 2020.
What does the Legislative Priority Survey ask?
The first part of the survey will ask about basic demographic information: your city and ethnicity. This information is collected anonymously to ensure that the Council is collecting an accurate sample of the community. You will not be able to edit your responses once they have been submitted.
The second part of the survey is critical information that helps guide the Council's work. From a list of topics, identified through past community surveys, you are asked to select the 3 most important issues to you. If you do not see a topic of your interest, you may write in your own issue. The written responses will also be analyzed to understand why an issue is important to you.
Are my responses anonymous?
Yes, all survey responses are completely anonymous. Your privacy matters to us, and there will also be no email, web, or contact information collected. However, if you would like to discuss your responses with the Council, do not hesitate to contact us via phone at 651-757-1740 or email at
capm@state.mn.us.
How are the results used?
The Council will gather all responses, analyze them for emerging trends, and then use the findings to help drive our work as the advisor to the Minnesota Legislature and the Governor’s Office. Our research staff will process the data, and the collection of community responses will help guide our work for the next two years.
How can we keep updated on the survey?
Survey-related information will be posted to
our Facebook Page where we will be posting updates and reminders. After the survey has closed in early fall 2020, the report and legislative agenda it produces will be available to the public.
Please contact our research staff if you have any additional questions.
