2017 LEGISLATIVE SESSION RECAP
On July 13, 2017, the Council on Asian Pacific Minnesotans (“the Council”) will host its annual Legislative Session Recap. The event will take place from 5:00 to 7:30 P.M. at the Minnesota Humanities Center on the Eastside of Saint Paul.
This event is organized by the Council to inform members of the community about significant legislative decisions made during the 2017 legislative session, and to provide the community with an opportunity to connect with key legislators. Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, section 15.0145, the Council is the state agency responsible for advising the Legislature and the Governor’s Office on behalf of the Asian Pacific Minnesotan community.
The 2017 Session Recap program consists of a brief presentation from the Council, a legislative panel, and a breakout session during which community members will have opportunities to engage with legislators in small group conversations. The Legislative Session Recap is an opportunity for members of the Asian Pacific community to hear directly from the Council and key legislators about their respective legislative priorities and accomplishments, and interact with legislators in a more community-friendly environment.
The Council believes that an ongoing dialogue between our Asian Pacific community and policy makers fosters stronger relationships and accountability in the legislative process. Community members, leaders, activists, organizers, and anyone who works with Minnesota’s diverse communities are encouraged to attend.
