The Minnesota Jurisprudence Examination is a 50-question open book examination on the laws and rules governing the practice of veterinary medicine in Minnesota. An applicant is eligible to take the Jurisprudence examination when all other requirements for licensure have been submitted, including a passing score on the NAVLE (or NBE and CCT) examination. The exam is available online via the portal once you have submitted your application and paid the fees. Passing score for the jurisprudence exam is 90%. If an attempt is unsuccessful there will be a $75 fee to retake the exam. Applicants are allowed to take the exam up to 5 times. Once you have completed the Jurisprudence Exam and all your documentation is in order, your file will be reviewed for license approval.

If you are a candidate with a documented disability covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and require test accommodations, please email the Board (vet.med@state.mn.us) with your request and supporting documentation. It takes time to review the documentation necessary to approve test accommodations, so submitting your application and accommodation materials early is encouraged. This allows time for you to submit any additionally requested documentation necessary for approval of your request, prior to the application deadline date.
