Renewal Timeline

NOVEMBER 15 to DECEMBER 31: RENEWAL 
Renewal notices are emailed mid-November when the renewal system has been opened.  To ensure that the Renewal Notices and Renewal Reminders are received, and per Minn. R. 2500.11505, Doctors of Chiropractic must log in to Online Services to update their current contact information within 30 days of any change.
License renewal requires completion of the required continuing education prior to completion of online renewal. The renewal application and payment of the annual renewal fee must be completed on or prior to December 31.Licensees are encouraged to renew early as "system glitches" or "technical difficulties" can occasionally occur but will not be a defense against any late penalties. 

JANUARY 1 to last day of FEBRUARY: EXPIRED 
Doctor of Chiropractic licenses not renewed by December 31st will be expired and chiropractic services may not be offered until renewal is completed.   Late renewal may still be completed online through the last day of February; however, a late renewal penalty of $150 per month will be assessed for late renewals.

Licensees are encouraged to renew early as "system glitches" or "technical difficulties" can occasionally occur but will not be a defense against any late penalties.

MARCH 1: BOARD TERMINATED 
Doctor of Chiropractic licenses not renewed by the last day of February will be board terminated and will require a Reinstatement Application per MINN. STAT. 148.071.  If a Doctor of Chiropractic license remains in this status for a period of greater than one year; a finger-print based Criminal Background Check (CBC) will be required prior to approval of the reinstatement application, per MINN. STAT. 214.075.  

Licensees are encouraged to renew early as "system glitches" or "technical difficulties" can occasionally occur, but will not be a defense against any late penalties.

If you have not yet completed your continuing education (CE), do NOT complete the renewal application affirming that you have completed your CE, as doing so would be placing false information on your renewal application and subject you to substantial penalties.  Instead, complete your CE prior to December 31, and then complete your renewal form.  If you are unable to complete your CE prior to December 31, please contact the Board directly.

You are responsible for verifying that the courses taken to complete annual renewal requirements are approved by the Board and/or PACE. To verify if a course is approved by the Board; go to Continuing Education Course Look-Up or to verify if it is PACE approved; go to the PACE website.

There are three parts to renewing your license:
1. Continuing Education
2. Renewal Application
3. Renewal Fee

NOTE: Entering the fee payment takes you out of the Board website and into the U.S. Bank website to ensure a secure transaction. Because of this, you are encouraged to complete all renewal applications first (adding each one to your "cart") and then complete one payment for all renewals. Your online renewal is not complete until you have a 15-digit confirmation number from the payment vendor – print this confirmation number as proof of renewal .

A voluntarily retired license is intended for individuals whose license is in good standing, with no continuing education audit deficiencies, and will no longer actively practice chiropractic in Minnesota.  There is no application fee to apply for Voluntarily Retired status, no annual renewal fee, and no requirement for continuing education.

To give the board time to process your request before the end of the year, please post mark your application to Voluntarily Retire by December 10^th. Applications postmarked by the last day in February will still be processed, however, should you wish to reinstate, you will be required to pay the late fees that occurred while in Expired status (between January 1 and the last day of February).

Per Minnesota Statute § 214.075; all licenses which are lapsed (non-renewed) for a period of greater than one year will require completion of a fingerprint based Criminal Background Check (CBC) before being reinstated to active status.
