Not until requested.  Renewal of your license will trigger the "CE Audit Notice" to be emailed to your confidential email on file with the Board. This Notice will request your continuing education for the most recently passed year.  (Renewal for the year 2026, we collect CE for 2025).  You will receive as part of this request instructions for online submission of your CE information and documentation.  

Continuing Education submissions for all licensees will be audited throughout the year. Once the audit of your CE is completed you will receive either an Audit Complete letter, or a Deficiency Notice.  Please visit our web page regarding the Continuing Education Audit for more details.

Even though your Acupuncture registration was renewed on September 15; all of your continuing education is due by December 31.  This includes the 2 hours that are required in approved acupuncture-related topics.

Only courses that are pre-approved by the MBCE or PACE for credit will be accepted for continuing education.  You may search for MBCE approved courses using the online search tool Continuing Education Course Look Up tool.  

PACE approved courses (Providers of Approved Continuing Education) through the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards (FCLB) will be accepted if they contain the appropriate PACE logo and approval number on the transcript.

A chiropractor is not required to obtain any continuing education units during the calendar year in which the chiropractor is initially licensed.  This is also true for any continuing education units that are required for the renewal of a registration during the calendar year in which that registration is issued.

Active Doctor of Chiropractic License = $250.00 / year
Inactive Doctor of Chiropractic License = $187.50 / year

Active Animal Chiropractor Registration = $100.00 / year
Inactive Animal Chiropractor Registration = $75.00 / year

Professional Firm Registration = $25.00 / year

Active Acupuncture Registration = $100.00 / year
Inactive Acupuncture Registration = $75.00 / year

Independent Examiner Registration = $100.00 / year

The renewal must be completed online by midnight (CST) of December 31.  

Note, you must affirm as part of your renewal that you have completed the required CE prior to renewal.  If you have not completed your CE, you should delay the renewal until you have completed it to avoid submitting a false application. However if not completed by December 31, your license will expire and you will not be authorized to practice until the renewal is completed. 

No. Renewals must be completed via your online account. The board will consider other methods for extreme cases only, and may require up to 30-days to process. If initiated too late to complete by December 31, your license will expire and you will not be able to practice prior to the renewal completion.  

If you are unsure if your renewal was successful.  You may verify it in a couple of places:
1. Do you have a 16 digit confirmation number from US Bank?  If so, your renewal was complete.
2. On the Board webpage, go to "Look Up a Licensee" and search your name.  Click on your name to open your detail page. You will want to see an Active license, with an expiration date of December 31 in the following year (or current year if you are renewing late).
3. Finally, if the above do not satisfy your question, you may contact Board staff to verify, 651-201-2848 or 651-201-2850.

The license certificates should be printed, processed and mailed within a couple weeks of your renewal.  If you do not receive it in the mail within three weeks of your renewal, please contact the board by phone. 651-201-2848.

Yes, for your files, not for submission.  During the renewal process, on the "Review" page prior to payment; there is a PDF page that you may download and print for your files. You still must complete the online renewal process.

No.  The renewal system requires that you complete both parts of your renewal (form and fee) in the same format.  Because Board staff are working remotely by order of the Governor, renewals must be completed via your online account.

Special arrangements may be made for extreme circumstances only and you must allow up to 30 days for processing. You may contact the board office at 651-201-2848 to request special arrangements for extreme circumstances.  

You must log into your online account and make sure all of your contact information is correct prior to making a request of special arrangements. This includes your current mailing address, phone number and confidential email on file with the board.  

Note, The board considers your email as confidential for official Board use only, such as renewal notices, and never shares your email with outside entities.   

If you need to answer YES to any of the renewal questions, an online box will open up for a detailed explanation.  

A YES answer may require review by one of the the Board's Complaint Review Panels; but it will NOT delay the effective date of your renewal.

No. Board staff are working remotely by order of the Governor. All renewals must be completed via your online account. If not renewed by 12-31 of the current year, your license will Expire and you will not be allowed to practice until the license is renewed or reinstated.

Please verify:
1. Does payment confirmation contain a confirmation NUMBER?  If so, contact the Board.  If not, your payment did not go through, and you should log back in and attempt to pay again.  

2. Does the email from the board indicate your DC renewal is incomplete, or is it possibly for the Professional Firm or Animal Chiropractic renewal?  (These all renew at the same time.)

3. Did you complete and Submit your renewal form. Your final confirmation must affirm successful submission of the "form" and "fee".

If you are renewing January 1-31, you will be assessed a $150 late fee in addition to your renewal fee.
If you are renewing February 1-28(29), you will be assessed a $300 late fee in addition to your renewal fee.

If it is March 1 or later, your license has been Board Terminated for failure to renew; and you will only be allowed to activate it through the reinstatement process.  This may include a continuing education audit, late penalty fees, a criminal background check (if terminated for greater than one year); and other requirements.

Applications for an Inactive License or Voluntary Retirement require your license to be in good standing according to MN Rules 2500.2020, 2500.2100.  This means that you must submit your application for Inactive License or Voluntary Retirement while you maintain an "Active" license status (i.e. prior to December 31).  If you do not meet this deadline, you will be required to complete your license renewal for the new year (and pay any late penalties as applicable) before your application for Inactive or Voluntary Retirement will be approvable.
