Not until requested. Renewal of your license will trigger the "CE Audit Notice" to be emailed to your confidential email on file with the Board. This Notice will request your continuing education for the most recently passed year. (Renewal for the year 2022, we collect CE for 2021). You will receive as part of this request instructions for online submission of your CE information and documentation.
If for some reason, you are unable to submit the digital copies, you must print the included Audit Reply Cover sheet, COMPLETE the cover sheet, attach copies of your attendance certificates and mail these to the board.
All CE for all licensees will be audited throughout the following year. Once the audit of your CE is completed you will receive either an Audit Complete letter, or a Deficiency Notice. Please visit our web page regarding the Continuing Education Audit for more details.
CE questions may be directed to 651-201-2850.
Only courses that are pre-approved by the MBCE or PACE for credit will be accepted for continuing education.
You may search for MBCE approved courses using the online search tool Continuing Education Course Look Up tool.

Please visit our Continuing Education web page for more details.

A licensee in good standing with the Board, may consider the following options:
1. Inactive Licensure
2. Voluntary Retirement
Applications for an Inactive License or Voluntary Retirement require your license to be in good standing according to MN Rules 2500.2020, 2500.2100. This means that you must submit your application for Inactive License or Voluntary Retirement while you maintain an "Active" license status (i.e. prior to December 31). If you do not meet this deadline, you will be required to complete your license renewal for the new year (and pay any late penalties as applicable) before your application for Inactive or Voluntary Retirement will be approvable.
Reminder, State employees are working remotely by order of the Governor. you must allow up to 30 days to process the paper status change request.
Please review details of the Inactive License and Voluntary Retirement on their prospective pages. Also consider the reinstatement requirements for either status, as this can become costly.
