Renewal of your license will cause the "CE Audit Notice" to be emailed to your email address on file with the Board. This notice will request your continuing education certificates and CE Summary Page for the previous year. (For example, when you renew your license for 2026, we will request your continuing education taken in 2025). This notice will include instructions for online submission of your CE, Summary Page, and CE Certificates.  

Continuing Education is reviewed in the order it is received. Once the audit of your CE is completed, you will receive either confirmation your audit is completed or a Deficiency Notice.  Please visit our web page regarding the Continuing Education Audit for more details.

Even though renewal of an Acupuncture registration is completed by September 15, continuing education must be completed with the renewal of your Doctor of Chiropractic license by December 31. This includes the 2 hours that are required in approved acupuncture-related topics.

Only courses that have a MBCE course number or a PACE logo on the certificate will be accepted for continuing education. You may search for MBCE approved courses using the online search tool Continuing Education Course Look Up tool.

A chiropractor is not required to obtain any continuing education units during the calendar year in which the chiropractor is initially licensed. This is also true for any continuing education units that are required for the renewal of a registration during the calendar year in which that registration is initially issued.

Active Doctor of Chiropractic License = $250.00/year
Active Animal Chiropractor Registration = $100.00/year
Professional Firm Registration = $25.00/year
Active Acupuncture Registration = $100.00/year
Independent Examiner Registration = $100.00/year

The renewal of a Doctor of Chiropractic license must be completed online by midnight (CST) of December 31.  

Note, the required CE must be completed prior to renewal.  If CE has not been completed do not renew until CE has been completed to avoid submitting a false application. If not completed by December 31, your license will expire, and you will not be authorized to practice until the renewal is completed. 

Renewals must be completed via the online account.

To confirm successful renewal, verify with the following:
1. A 15-digit confirmation number from US Bank is provided when renewal is complete.
2. On the Board webpage, search your name here: Look Up a License Click on your name to open the detail page. A renewed license will be Active with an expiration date of December 31 in the following year (or current year if renewing late).

License Certificates are printed in the order licenses are renewed and are mailed to the public address on file. If the certificate is not received in the mail within three weeks of renewal, please contact the board, 651-201-2850.

Yes, but not for submission. During the renewal process, on the "Review" page prior to payment; there is a PDF page that may be downloaded and printed. You still must complete the online renewal process.

The renewal system requires that completion of both parts of the renewal (application and fee) online.

Answering YES to any of the renewal questions will open a box to write a detailed explanation.  

A YES answer may require review by a Board's Complaint Review Panel; this will NOT delay the effective date of license renewal.

MBCE requires the renewal of the license and registrations to go through the online portal.

Please verify:
1. Does your payment confirmation contain a 15-digit confirmation number? If not the payment did not go through and you should log in and attempt to pay again.  

2. Does the email from the board indicate your DC renewal is incomplete, or is the notice for a registration (Professional Firm or Animal Chiropractic) renewal?

If you are unsure why the board considers your renewal is incomplete; it is best to contact the Board directly by phone as soon as possible at 651-201-2850.

When renewing January 1-31, a $150 late fee in addition to the annual renewal fee will be assessed.
When renewing February 1-28(29), a $300 late fee in addition to the annual renewal fee will be assessed.

March 1 or later, licenses that are Board Terminated for failure to renew must go through the reinstatement process. This will include submission of continuing education, application fee, current annual renewal fee, late penalty fees, a criminal background check (if terminated for greater than one year) and other requirements per MINN. STAT. 148.071.

3. If you have tried #1 and #2, and still get this message, contact the Board at 651-201-2850.

Click on the "Forgot Username/Password" button and follow the prompts to reset your password by EMAIL. All information must be entered as it is asked for (i.e. birthday must be in MM/DD/YYYY format, for the system to recognize you). Be sure to enter the email address that the Board has on file for the system to recognize you.

A licensee in good standing with the Board,  who does not have a continuing education audit deficiency and will no longer actively practice chiropractic in Minnesota, may apply for Voluntarily Retired status. There is no application fee to apply for Voluntarily Retired status, no annual renewal fee, and no requirement for continuing education.

To give the board time to process the request before the end of the year, please post mark the application to Voluntarily Retire by December 10^th. Applications postmarked by the last day in February will still be processed, however, future reinstatement, will require payment of the late fees that occurred while in Expired status (between January 1 and the last day of February).
