This registration is granted for one year and will expire on its one-year anniversary date. This means the effective date on your Preceptorship certificate is the start date, and the expiration date on your certificate is the date it will cancel (one year later).
There is not an option to “renew” this registration. Therefore, there are no incurred late fees or reinstatement fees. Additionally, no renewal notice is sent out. However, the board will email you a courtesy notice of the upcoming expiration date, one to two weeks in advance. If you then wish to continue with the Preceptorship registration, you will need to complete a NEW application and submit the $100 application fee.
The application can be found on the MBCE website under “Apply for a License: Graduate Preceptorship”
NOTE: Externs and Preceptors are able to be on a different one-year timeline. If your extern is overlapping from one preceptorship to the next, please contact the Board’s Licensing Coordinator for more information. Board staff contacts
