Caregiving for family, friends and neighbors

Are you caregiving?

Family caregiving may be the most satisfying work we ever do, but it can come at the expense of our time, energy and income. Additionally, caregiving carries a high risk for depression and worsening health for the caregiver. It is very common for caregivers to feel overwhelmed and alone. But caregiving does not have to be harmful to your health. Research clearly shows that family caregivers who connect with support, do better.

Sometimes, it helps to have someone in our corner to work with on a one-to-one basis. Caregiver Consultants are trained professionals you can turn to. Caregiver consultation is a personalized, goal-oriented service designed to support and empower caregivers in their caregiving roles. It involves a collaborative partnership between the caregiver and a trained professional focusing on the caregiver's needs, goals and challenges.

Generally, this service is offered free or at low cost. Certain eligibility requirements may apply, and availability varies from community to community. Call the Minnesota Aging Pathways at 800-333-2433 to find a Caregiver Consultant in your area, or search Minnesota Aging & Disability Resources
