The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) refers to State Officials and Approved Agents when conducting the EMT Psychomotor Skills Exam. 

The Approved Agent is the on-site agent conducting the exam, recording results, and is responsible for ensuring the exam is conducted in accordance with the NREMT guidelines.

An Approved Agent must meet the following requirements:

• Credentialed at the level of, or higher, than the exam being conducted
• Current CPR or ACLS Certification
• Completed a Board Approved Best Practices for Psychomotor Examination Scoring webinar and Office of EMS Approved Agent training

144E.286 An examiner testing, EMT, AEMT, or paramedic practical skills must be certified at or above the level the examiner is testing or must be a registered nurse, physician, or physician assistant familiar with current out-of-hospital care. 

Examiners must submit an application for approval by the Office of EMS and complete the NREMT webinar Examiner Application
