Selena Bernier
Selena Bernier is an enrolled member of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and grew up on the Bad River reservation. She is a Cultural Resource Manager for the Minnesota Indian Affairs Council. She holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Anthropology from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. She is pursuing her PhD in Anthropology, also from UMN. Her focus is in Indigenous archaeology approaches with a special emphasis in Lake Superior archaeological copper materials.
Selena has been a board member of the Minnesota Archaeological Society since 2021. Selena has worked for a few years at the Science Museum of Minnesota as an archaeology technician and has done several archaeology internships at the Minnesota Historical Society. She is passionate about asserting Indigenous voices and sovereignty rights in archaeological and cultural resource spaces. Aside from working, Selena spends her time with her husband, baby, and extended family. She enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, kayaking, and learning to identify plants.
