Regional Landscape Program

The Regional Landscape Program builds robust relationships among forestry stakeholders, private landowners, forest industry, community members, Tribes, and agencies across Minnesota through two core functions: 

  1. Fostering an open and transparent process for regional long-range strategic forest resource planning across all lands (regional landscape planning). Landscape plans are inclusive of the unique social, economic, and ecological needs of each region. MFRC regional landscape plans are an important component of sustainable forest management certification of 7.9 million acres of public and private forest land in Minnesota.MFRC Landscape Regions Map
  2. Maintaining a network of regional forest resource committees (regional landscape committees) under which this landscape-based forest resources planning occurs. When not actively developing a plan, regional committees area venue for broad cross-boundary, cross-entity collaboration and perspective-sharing in forest and land management. 

Through creation of shared goals followed by regular cross-sector engagement and collaboration, the program builds trusted relationships that strengthen communication, reduce conflicts, and create durable partnerships across all ownerships.
