Who Does Commerce License?

The Minnesota Department of Commerce Licensing Unit administers a license application and renewal program for over 275,000 licensees.

The Licensing Unit administers application and renewal programs for insurance agents and adjusters, real estate salespersons and brokers, appraisers, collection agencies and debt collectors, and others seeking to do business across the state. The Licensing staff also approves applications for pre-license and continuing education courses, maintains experience requirement standards, answers consumer inquiries regarding commerce-administered professional licenses, and assists regulated entities in their ongoing efforts to better serve their clients.
