Public License Lookup: verify or print a social work license

The license data included in search results is provided and controlled by the Minnesota Board of Social Work. License information is updated in real time, is secure, and is considered primary source for verification of a Minnesota social work license.

  • Use the Public License Lookup to:
    • Find out if a social worker is licensed
    • Verify a social work license
    • View public adverse actions
    • Print your license information
    • Find out if a licensee has attested to being eligible to provide non-clinical or clinical licensing supervision
  • Search tips:
    • Search by name, license number, license type, city, or county (do NOT use ALL search fields).
    • Try searching with less information in the search fields. Example: to search for Jane Doe, type "ja" into the first name field and "d" into the last name field
    • To search for licensing supervisors click on the checkbox identified as "Licensing Supervisor" below the data search fields
  • Applicants are not included in the Public License Lookup
    • Use Search for Board Actions to see the historic record of public adverse actions for both applicants and licensees.
The Board has jurisdiction over licensed social workers. Remember that some social workers are exempt from licensure and not required to be licensed, may use the social worker title under Minnesota law, and aren't under the Board's jurisdiction.
