Full List of Minnesota Schedules II-V

 All schedule II-V controlled substances listed in Minnesota Statutes Sect. 152.02 are required to be reported to the MN PMP.  This list includes additional prescriptions that are scheduled in Minnesota, and not currently federally scheduled such as human growth hormone, pseudoephedrine (reported only when dispensed according to a prescription), and chorionic gonadotropin.  

Drugs of Concern

Dispensers are required to report on a daily basis (same day or next business day.) If a pharmacy or dispenser is closed for more than one day, it is permissible to report these days on the next open business day, however, a separate report must be submitted for each day (zero report).

If no controlled substance, butalbital or gabapentin prescriptions are dispensed on any given day, the dispenser is required to submit a "zero report" at the end of the day or on the following day. If the dispenser does not have a way to automate zero reporting and is closed for business, it is permissible to submit one zero report per day closed, upon reopening for business. 

Submitting zero reports for a timeframe greater than one day is not permitted.

Dispensers are required by law to report valid prescription information to the PMP. 

Prescription records containing errors must be resolved in the PMP database within seven days of the initial erroneous submission. 

File Status Reports containing errors electronically distributed to the dispenser or their PMP Data Submitter (i.e. software vendor, corporate uploader, etc.) based on the dispenser's Clearinghouse account. Failure to correct prescription errors within the allowed seven days may result in a referral to the Board of Pharmacy's regulatory investigators for further action.

• Opioid Treatment Program pharmacy or facility that is unable to report due to data privacy measures in Federal Regulations 42 CFR part 2.

• Licensed hospital pharmacy that distributes controlled substances as defined in Minnesota Statutes 152.126, for inpatient hospital care only.

• Pharmacy or facility that solely distributes drugs to individuals through the use of an automated drug distribution system in accordance with Minnesota Statutes 151.58.

• Pharmacy or facility that never dispenses controlled substance (schedules II-V, butalbital and gabapentin) prescriptions.
