Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA)

The Minnesota Department of Corrections is committed to ensuring that all individuals have access to its programs and services. The ADA is a federal law that protects people with disabilities in many areas of public life. Two parts of the ADA apply directly to governmental entities. Title I prohibits discrimination in all aspects of employment, and Title II prohibits discrimination in public services, programs, and activities.

Under both titles, public entities must provide reasonable accommodations or modifications for individuals with disabilities to allow them to fully participate in public employment and public services.

Below are foundational resources to help you understand and support ADA initiatives at the DOC.
