Residential and Crisis Services for Children and Teens

We provide short- and long-term residential and crisis support for children and adolescents with developmental disabilities, mental illnesses, and significant behavioral challenges that require customized care plans. Recognizing and responding to the complex needs of each individual child, our services focus on stabilization and skill development in safe, structured environments.

Child and Adolescent Residential Services

Our Child and Adolescent Residential Services offer long-term support and provide a nurturing environment tailored to the developmental and emotional needs of children and teens. These services integrate therapeutic approaches to help young people build skills, resilience, and independence within a safe and structured setting.

Crisis Residential Services

Our short-term crisis programs provide intensive support for children and adolescents experiencing behavioral or mental health crises, helping them stabilize and transition back to their homes or communities.

Minnesota Intensive Therapeutic Homes (MITH)

The MITH program serves children and adolescents with the most complex needs, offering specialized residential care with therapeutic interventions in small, community-integrated homes. The program assists youth transitioning from institutional or other restrictive settings to integrated family living. By addressing housing, education, and social connections, MITH empowers young people to thrive in their homes and communities with dignity and autonomy – preparing for the next step in their lives. Ultimately, MITH provides tools and pathways to help young people live independently and thrive in their communities.

Referral and Admission Process

Admission to child and adolescent services programs is by referral only. Referrals, including MITH, require collaboration between counties, state agencies, and referring providers to ensure seamless transitions and access to care. Contact our Central Pre-Admissions Office for more information on how to start the process.
