As Chief General Counsel, Dale Klitzke leads DCT's legal team.
He oversees all of the agency's legal affairs, including providing advice, counsel and direction on complex issues of law, litigation, settlements and negotiations.
Klitzke joined DCT in 2023 as a Deputy General Counsel managing legal support for the agency. Previously, he was the Deputy General Counsel for the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs, staff attorney and manager at DHS working in the area of medical assistance estate recovery and liens, policy development and legislative development and analysis. He also practiced law in the private sector with the law firm of Klemp & Stanton, PLLP, practicing in the area of estate planning, criminal defense, and civil litigation.
He earned his undergraduate degree from St. Cloud State University and his law degree from Hamline University School of Law. He was admitted to the Minnesota Bar in 2001 and the United States District Court of Minnesota in 2003. He is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, Ramsey County Bar Association, American Association of Public Welfare Attorneys and a retiree of the Minnesota National Guard.
