Carol Olson is the chair of the Executive Board.
She was appointed by Gov. Tim Walz as a member with experience in the delivery of behavioral health services. She was elected chair by the other members of the board. Her term expires Jan. 1, 2029.
Olson brings expertise and proven leadership in health care management, strategic planning, complex project management and community engagement to the board.
During a lengthy career in mental health services, Olson served as DCT's Executive Director of Forensic Services from 2012 to 2022; as the administrator of one of DCT's Community Behavioral Health Hospitals from 2002 to 2012; and as a Mental Health Program Director for the Minnesota Department of Human Services from 1999 to 2011. She retired from state service in 2022.
Olson holds a bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Mankato State University and has completed all course work for a master's degree in Human Services Programming and Administration.
