Catherine Chavers is a voting member of the Executive Board. She was appointed by Gov. Tim Walz as a member with experience in the delivery of behavioral health services. Her term expires Jan. 1, 2029.
As current Chairwoman of the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa and former president of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe, Chavers brings a unique perspective and more than 36 years of health and human services experience to the Executive Board.
A longtime advocate for the health and well-being of Minnesota's Native communities, she has been recognized for her contributions to tribal health initiatives and inter-tribal collaboration. She has been honored with a Special Recognition Award from the Indian Health Service. In 2024, she was inducted into the Women Empowering Women for Indigenous Nations Warrior Women's Circle.
