    August 19, 2013 - DHS is involved in several efforts at this year’s Minnesota State Fair, which begins Thursday, Aug. 22, and runs through Sept. 2. The Minnesota Board on Aging promotes the Senior LinkAge Line® and www.MinnesotaHelp.info® and DHS services and initiatives at its booth in the Education Building.
  • Input from people with disabilities, others sought at meeting Monday
    August 15, 2013 - Input from individuals with disabilities, their families, advocacy organizations, service providers and others is being sought Monday in Rochester on a draft plan that will help Minnesota develop the next generation of opportunities for people with disabilities.
  • DHS issues Respect and Dignity Practices Statement
    August 12, 2013 - The Minnesota Department of Human Services has issued a statement signed by Commissioner Lucinda Jesson outlining its commitment to achieving goals it has set for the care of individuals with disabilities. As part of the settlement of a 2011 federal court case involving the treatment of clients at a DHS facility, the department agreed to rewrite an administrative rule and move away from the use of restraints and seclusion in its care of people with disabilities.

    August 08, 2013 - With a $15,000 grant from DHS, the Emergency Foodshelf Network is expanding its Mobile Foodshelf outreach this year to deliver an additional 73,000 pounds of food to low-income communities in Hennepin and Ramsey counties.

A subcabinet of state agency leaders is holding a listening session Tuesday, Aug. 13 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Duluth City Hall Council Chambers.
