Frequently asked questions

Dental

  • What does the dental program cover?

The dental program covers most dental procedures including cleaning, fillings, x-rays, routine maintenance and dentures. Some procedures are not covered, such as dental implants, braces and gold crowns. If you have a question about what services are covered, call Program HH Customer Care at 651-431-2398.

  • Will it cost me anything to see the dentist?

As long as the service you need is covered by Program HH, you should have no out-of-pocket expenses for your dental treatment. If you have private dental insurance and the procedure you have done is covered by Program HH, Program HH will pick up your co-pays or deductibles.

  • How do I find a dentist?

You must use a Minnesota Health Care Program dentist to provide any work through your Program HH dental benefits. You can find a list of dental providers by visiting the DHS public Web pages or you can call Program HH Customer Care at 651-431-2398 for help locating a provider in your area. You can also get help through the Minnesota AIDS Project AIDS Line by calling 612-373-2437 or 800-248-2437.

  • How do I explain my dental benefits to the dentist?

When you talk to the dentist you can tell them that you have Program HH dental benefits. You can tell them that Program HH is a state health care program. Give them your eight-digit program number.

  • What if the dentist does not know about Program HH or what services are covered?

If the provider doesn’t know about Program HH or what services you can receive, ask them to call Program HH Customer Care at 651-431-2398. Program HH Customer Care can answer any questions about your benefits.

  • What if the dentist tells me the service I need is not covered?

If the provider tells you that the service you need is not covered, you can call the Program HH Customer Care to verify that information at 651-431-2398.
