    ISO 19115 Topic Categories: Best practice is to begin the list of theme keywords with one or more of the following international topic categories that best describe the data theme. Spell the name exactly as listed, with no spaces, and in camel case (first word starts with lower case, and each subsequent word starts with a capital letter). The list below shows the category name in bold, followed by a definition and examples.

    • farming: rearing of animals and/or cultivation of plants, e.g., agriculture, crops, livestock
    • biota: flora and/or fauna in natural environments, e.g., flora and fauna, ecology, wetlands, habitat

    Guidance

    If multiple dates or a range of dates apply to the data set, use the "Currentness Reference" field instead to list them and to explain further.

    This field was intended to support user searches for data that was either older than or more recent than a particular date.

    Domain

    Date in this format:

    • YYYY  if just the year is known (e.g., 2015)
    • YYYYMM  if the year and month are known (e.g., 201507, representing July 2015)
    • YYYYMMDD  if the year, month and day are known (e.g., 20150704, representing July 4, 2015)
