The Minnesota Geospatial Advisory Council (GAC) was established by state statute in 2009 and reauthorized in 2013 (16E.30, subd. 8) to advise MnGeo on improving the operations and management of geospatial technology within state government, and on issues of importance to the community. As such, the GAC serves as a coordinating body for the Minnesota geospatial community and provides recommendations for improving services statewide through the coordinated, affordable, reliable, and effective use of geospatial technology.

The GAC represents a cross-section of organizations that include counties, cities, universities, business, nonprofit organizations, federal and state agencies, Tribal government, surveyors and other groups that benefit from geospatial technology. The work of the GAC both informs and complements the work of MnGeo.
