The Council Publishes its Biennial Legislative Priorities Survey Report

3/11/2021 12:47:45 PM

Dear community,

Thank you to everyone who accepted our invitation to participate in the Council’s biennial Legislative Priorities Survey. As you are aware, the Council deployed the survey in the summer of 2020, and accepted responses between July 20 and November 1. By the closing of the survey, we obtained 225 valid responses.

Today, we are pleased to announce that the full report containing details on the methodology, data collection, and analysis is now available on the Council’s Reports and Publications website. /capm/assets/2021-2022%20Legislative%20Priorities%20Survey%20Report%20-%20FINAL%20-%20March%2010%2C%202021_tcm1051-471327.pdfClick here to download the report as a PDF file.

After thorough analysis and synthesis of the responses, we have identified the following priority areas:

- Healthcare access
- Equity and social justice
- Achievement gap
- Immigration rights
- Affordable housing

During the ongoing 2021 legislative session, the Council is tracking and/or actively advising on key bills that address these priorities identified by you, our community. We want to ensure we are doing all that we can to follow through with any and all initiatives we undertake to demonstrate how our public campaigns—from research and data collection, to public appearances and community participation during non-pandemic times, to our close monitoring of the state legislature—uphold the statutory charge of the Council.

As part of our ongoing commitment to engaging and educating our communities, the Council continues to host biweekly, virtual open houses every other Friday. Should you have questions, comments, or feedback on how to improve our processes, or would just like to listen in to the latest work at the Council, we welcome you to join us at these public, drop-in sessions. You can view upcoming “Coffee with the Council” sessions in the event calendar on the Council’s website.

Thank you for your continued engagement in our state’s democratic practices. The Council exists to connect the needs and realities of Minnesota’s Asian Pacific community to the work and efforts of state government. Your feedback is integral to ensuring that the Council’s efforts are relevant, timely, and consistent.

Respectfully,

Anjuli Mishra Cameron, M.S.
