Job Description: Applicants with no law enforcement experience will earn $37.96 /hourly for the first year and progress each year in the wage scale until top base pay of $51.34/hourly after five continuous years of employment with the department. Our department offers the following incentives: educational (7% Bachelor’s degree/9% Masters), longevity, field training, instructor, Officer in Charge, and shift differential pay.  Annually, officers are afforded (104) hours of holiday pay. In addition, officers are represented by LELS Local 179.

Lateral officers are strongly encouraged to apply.  Lateral officers starting wages and benefits will be evaluated based on previous law enforcement experience during the application process.

Our department has ample opportunities for officer’s growth to include:  Field Training Officer, Firearms and Use of Force Instructor, Investigations, Drug Task Force Investigator, School Resource Officer, Community Engagement Officer, SWAT Operator, Mobile Field Force Operator, and Patrol / Investigative Sergeant.

Minimum requirements:  MN POST Board licensed or eligible to be licensed by date of hire; possess a two-year degree in Law Enforcement, and valid MN Class D driver’s license.

Desired qualifications:  Previous law enforcement experience  to include a police officer, community service officer, or reserve officer; Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, law enforcement or related field.
