Agency Training Reimbursement
• Per MN Rule 6700.1800, the board shall provide annual reimbursement to help defray the costs that have been incurred by local units of government in making continuing education available to the peace officers employed by them; provided, however, that the board's program of reimbursement is contingent upon the continued availability of funds designated for that purpose.
• The reimbursement rate is calculated based on the total amount allocated by the legislature divided by the number of eligible officers.
• An eligible officer is a peace officer who: was employed by the same agency for a minimum of 8 months during that fiscal year AND has completed a minimum of 16 POST approved continuing education credits.
• To receive reimbursement, a law enforcement agency must submit an application via the online portal detailing the costs of continuing education and a list of all eligible officers to the MN POST Board by July 31st.
• Payments from the reimbursement fund are disbursed in August each year by electronic funds transfer.
